At a party to celebrate his parents’ 37th wedding anniversary, Richie’s father toasted his mother, Alberta, saying “She’s a great lady, she’s a great mother, and she’s a great friend.” The toast inspired Lionel Richie to write “Three Times a Lady”, which he dedicated to his wife, Brenda.
Three Times a Lady was released in 1978 and was the Commodores first-ever Billboard 100 number 1 hit topping the chart for 2 weeks.
It was the only Motown song to reach the top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100 that year.

‘Hello’ was released in 1984, the third single to be released from his second album ‘Can’t Slow Down’.
It went on to dominate the global single’s charts, in the US reaching alone number one on three Billboard music charts: the pop chart (for two weeks), the R&B chart (for three weeks), and the adult contemporary chart (for six weeks). The song also went to number one in the UK Singles Chart for six weeks. as well as topping the charts right across Europe, Canada and Australia

My Destiny
‘My Destiny’ was recorded by Lionel Richie in 1992 and was the second single released from his album ‘Back to Front’.
‘My Destiny’ reached number 7 on both the US Contemporary Billboard 100 and the UK Singles Chart.
It went on to top the Dutch Mega Single Top 100 and also appeared on Lionel Richie’s best of Truly: The Love Songs and The Definitive Collection.
